Sponsored Training Update

Though 2020 was a challenging year for Living Hope to sponsor suicide prevention training, a spirit of adaptation and new offerings meant that training opportunities continued. Though all in person training was suspended in mid March due to Covid-19, plans were soon underway to pivot to online offerings where possible.

Our contracted partner, Imagine Institute for Learning, is now able to provide online versions of Trauma-Informed Care: Translating Trauma-Informed Principles into Practice. Living Hope has also began to offer LivingWorks Start, a one hour, online suicide prevention training session that teaches people to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and connect them to help and support. Since the beginning of September, over 500 Edmontonians have registered in the training.

Depending on what 2021 has in store for Edmonton, the hope is that in person training for ASIST, SafeTalk and QPR can once again resume once social distancing requirements allow.

Living Hope remains committed to increasing access to suicide prevention training in 2021 and will continue to explore options that are accessible, effective and safe.

Living Hope, City of Edmonton

Living Hope was developed by a committee of dedicated organizations and individuals who believe that suicide can be prevented in our city. These partners range from government to colleges and universities, to private and non-profit organizations. View the Living Hope Implementation Plan.
